1. Removing Wheel from Car
It is best to remove your wheel before you start the repair job. If you do choose to keep the wheel on, you need to make sure to fully cover the car with cloth and tape it down so the spray of the paint does not get on your car.

2. Cleaning the WheelFirst, you want to use soap and scrub the wheel until it shines. Then, you need to use paint thinner to clean just the damaged area of the wheel. In order to properly repair the wheel, you have to remove all polishes and waxes from the surface area.

3. Preparing Wheel for SandingIf the tire is still on the wheel, you need to use masking tape to cover the area where the wheel meets with the tire. If you do not want to be scraping spray paint off of your tire, it is important to not skip this step.

4. Sanding Damaged Area With 240-Grit SandpaperOnce the area can been sanded down, you need to wipe the area clean and apply putty to the scraped area. The putty must be completely dry before sanding it down with the 400-grit sandpaper.

5. PaintingAlways read the instructions on the can of spray paint you have for the most correct application techniques. Always test the spray paint on something that you do not care about to make sure how it is going to look and how it is working. You should make sure to let the paint fully dry before attempting the final step because the paint will most likely lift and you will have to start the entire process again.

6. Applying ClearcoatAfter the paint is completely dry, you now need to apply the clearcoat spray. There is absolutely no need to wipe away the overspray from this.
